The 6 star hotels shown below are a shortcut to the newest and best hotels in Zermatt. Officially there are no 6 star Zermatt hotels. No formal accreditation body recognises more than 5 stars. But a 6 star Zermatt hotel still sounds amazing, doesn't it.
You are right to have high expectations and the few 6 star hotels available throughout the world certainly impress. Some sites ever refer to the Burj Al Arab in Dubai as 7 star.
We've defined a 6 star Zermatt hotel as having a 5 star rating and having a guest review rating of more than 9/10. This equates to around 4/5 on TripAdvisor, although TripAdvisor appears to be rounding review ratings up these days.
When looking at hotel guest review ratings, the total number of reviews counts. To have more than a 9/10 rating (or more than 4/5 on TripAdvisor) on more than 1,000 hotel reviews is an amazing feat of consistently offering guests superior service and an above expectations experience.
