Excellent location for everything in Stone Town; lovely room, spacious, cool, comfortable, quiet (you will hear the call to prayer); filtered water, room safe, bathrobe, good wifi; decent breakfast on the breezy upper floor terrace which after 3.30pm is residents' only with tea available. The staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming (particularly Romana). The cafe also does good coffee, juices, food and cakes.

What did I like? The exceptional helpfulness of the staff: Ali, Richard and everyone else who helped make my stay memorable and feel like I was at home. The coffee, food and breakfast choices were all excellent. Even if you don't stay here go in for a coffee, pastry or lunch. ZCH is often busy with tourists and even locals because the coffee is amongst the best and the pastries and wraps are delicious. The house dates back to the 19th century and was owned by Sir Tharia Thopan, a well known person on the island during that time. The architecture and ambiance of the house and how well it was restored only add to the over experience.

Fantastic place with very helpful managers and joyful (really!) staff. The rooms were lovely and everywhere you looked was a visual pleasure, not to mention the delicious breakfast. Highly recommend.

Wonderful stay! I spent only one night there but I wish I had more time. The building is beautifully curated in the details and very clean. The staff were extremely effective and helpful. Position is ideal for strolls and excellent restaurants around. I had an early check out and the staff prepared take-away breakfast for me. Great value for money. Warmly recommended!

The hotel is located right in the centre of stone town. Nice ambience and helpful and friendly service all along the line. Had one of the nicest rooms, tastefully decorated and well equipped with AC and fan. Very neat and clean.

Small guesthouse with 8 characterful rooms. Lovely roof terrace with secluded seating and great views. Warm welcome and delicious coffee. Loved the lack of plastic bottles and use of filtered water. Unlimited tea/ coffee/ water in common area. Great location in centre of Stone Town and short walk from road/ taxi point.
