We liked the fact that it had a bit of history and had character. It was also set in a lovely peaceful spot, not too far a walk from the city centre, and had pleasant areas to sit and relax in the sun or amongst a small orchard.

Rod was a warm and friendly host who lives next door. Nothing is too much trouble if you have any problems. The cottage is absolutely gorgeous and the beds are super comfortable. The additional downstairs loo makes life so much easier if you struggle with stairs. There’s a regular bus into town every 10 minutes or so if you don’t fancy the 20 minute walk which terminates at the railway station and the park and ride (monks cross retail park) in the opposite direction. The Old Coach House is perfectly situated just outside the city centre but close enough to get there easily or join the main routes elsewhere.
