We loved the location and we loved how rustic it was but still very modern. The rooms were very clean with all that we needed and the breakfast was very nice.

Very friendly staff. Restaurant was very nicely decorated. Breakfast was very tasty but personally I like my sausage to look cooked - it was vey pale like it hadn't been cooked at all.

The hotel was Very central to the sights, shops and restaurants and bars, Downside was very noisy at night was music and people talking to late at night. then getting a wake up call at 05:30 with the bins and glass collections, so not ideal.

(Room8) We understand the hotel is an old building, full of character and quirkiness but we found the bathroom very small. In the shower you could hardly move, there was no where to put your shampoo etc, and for a woman who doesn’t want to wash her hair every time she has a shower there was no sliding shower only a drencher which was too big for the enclosure which resulted in water coming over the top. There were no hooks in the bathroom to hang towels and the extractor fan did not work. The quality of the mattress was very poor. The staff were lovely as was the breakfast.

Great breakfast, outstanding reception/front of house staff ( Rose particularly outstanding). Great location, parking not perfect and only an 8 from 10 for cleansliness.

It's a lovely hotel, but please be aware if you are put on the top floor there are a lot of stairs, there is no lift

Fantastic location in the centre of York literally next to the Minster and Shambles. Public parking nearby at Q-Park was great quality with a hefty discount code from the hotel. Room was spacious and well equipped, staff were super friendly and the breakfast was incredible. Can also recommend eating an evening meal at the Forest restaurant it was excellent and reasonably priced for a city centre too.
