Very clean and authentic. The rooms were very nice, the owners provides yukatas as well. The location is superb - a short walk to the Snow Monkey Park - you can also arrange a transport with the owners without extra charge. The outside onsen is beautiful. Even though some things are older I do not mind that as everything was very well taken care of and clean.

Minshuku Miyama is definitely one of the best places I've ever stayed. The staff were unbelievably nice and helpful, always ready to help with a smile. The food was absolutely amazing, especially the homemade dinner with local ingredients. And the location in the middle of beautiful nature was fantastic. Minshuku Miyama is a real hidden gem, perfect for anyone looking for peace and an authentic experience. I highly recommend it!

The owners are very kind and do their best to explain everything. The onsen is private in the mornings and evenings, and I had it all to myself every time—such a great way to relax! The location is very convenient, close to the Monkey Park and the express bus to Nagano Station. Also, the room was pleasantly warm, even in mid-March. Overall, it felt like staying at my grandmother’s home—so cozy and welcoming. I will definitely return!

Location is great if you are there to go to the snow monkey park, as it is only a 15-20 minute walk to the entrance. The room was nice and big, with the futons being very comfortable. We went in winter, and it was very cold, but the room with the heater was bearable. The onsen is beautiful, mostly empty if you go very early or very late, otherwise it is also open to the public and it can get a bit crowded. The couple that runs the hotel is very nice, and they gave us a ride to the station on the day we were leaving. It is a walkable distance from shibu onsen itself (10 mins), so even with snow you can go and sightsee in Shibu.

Warm and welcoming. Close to Snow Monkey Park. Lovely and helpful staff. We caught transport from Nagano to Snow Monkey Park and then walked the half mile or so to the accommodation which was a bit tricky with the snow falling! After a visit to the monkeys it was back to the accommodation and a lovely dip in the Onsen(so hot!) before a delicious home made meal with so many dishes. Breakfast was also lovely - homemade. Although they had limited English the owners were lovely and helped us to mend a broken suitcase. They also gave us a lift to the local station early in the morning

Meals & dining room are amazing. Most authentic Japanese experience we’ve had. Lovely hosts. Walking distance to monkey park & old part of Shibu Onsen. Opposite a bus stop so easy to get there from train station. Outdoor Onsen was best we’ve seen. Comfortable futons. Indoor Yukata & also thick woollen yukata for outdoor walk.

Breakfast and dinner was part of the package when I paid for the room - the meal is traditional type of meal which included protein, vegetable and dessert. The female staffwas very friendly and helpful despite not being able to speak any English. The male staff also nice as they drove us to the station to allow for more sleeping time and one less transport to transfer. The snow monkey park was around 10min walk and one of the snow resorts were 30mins by bus.

Spacious room and comfortable futon. Lovely outdoor onsen. Great location and welcome lift from owner to the Snow Monkey Park. I had dinner and it was divine. Great value too. I highly recommend staying here, the owner and his wife are so friendly and gracious. Do not miss the Snow Monkeys, they are fantastic. Bucket list ticked!
