The staff were very friendly and helpful, we booked for our private onsen in the room and all meals included which was very nice.

The hospitality!! The staff were so so lovely. Especially the owner who was so welcoming and helpful, and the shuttle driver who drove us direct to the snow monkey park and picked us up after. And the food!! Amazing. Cannot fault this place, will recommend to everyone!

The traditional style room with futon beds was a new experience for us. We all found the beds comfortable. We only stayed 1 night so not sure how it would have been for longer. The Onsen was wonderful. Very clean and relaxing. Really enjoyed the one outside as the view was of the snow covered trees. The evening meal was great. We weren’t really sure what we were doing but all of the food was really nice. The breakfast was a buffet style and we all found something that we liked. The staff were so so helpful. They picked us up from the station when we arrived and the following day they took us to the monkey park and picked us up again. They also took us back to the train station when we were ready to leave.

Our most memorable stay during the whole trip. I would plan to go to Nagano just to stay in this hotel again. Homey old building, ryokan style, indoor & outdoor natural onsen, breakfast & dinner is absolutely wonderful. The owner/ manager was so charming & attentive, we felt welcomed like an old family friend rather than just guests. We hired private car to take us to the hotel from Nagano station since we stopped at several destinations along the way, but you could also take the train from Nagano to Yudanaka station & ask the hotel for pick up (or just walk the short but scenic route across a beautiful river). Please be minded that this is an old building hotel, not some glitzy high rise hotel building. The old charm is part of its appeal for us. Traditional, yet easy to navigate for foreign guests. We went there during winter & the hotel was warm. Yukata & slippers was provided, including small ones for our toddler. There is free shuttle car every morning to go to Snow Monkey car park (next to the Roman Museum, a short walk to the actual park entrance). The car will also pick you up from the car park back to hotel. Free shuttle to Yudanaka train station is also available. We opted for half board package and was extremely satisfied with our meals. Breakfast was buffet style, but the dinner was a complete set of Japanese meal for each person. Both was the tastiest meal we had in Japan. Dinner menu also different for both our night stays. The host also recommended some sake during dinner, we liked the cold sake best. The area surrounding the hotel itself was not special, except for the beautiful river a block away. But its location is ideal as a base for various activities (snow monkey tracking, snow sport in nearby resorts, onsen "hopping" to Shibu village). Overall its not only a hotel stay for us, our stay was a whole wonderful experience by itself. We would love to come back & stay there again.

Service was TOP TIER. The staff spoke pretty good English and was extremely accommodating, especially considering it was New Year’s Eve and Day. They advised us which places were open and even ran over themselves to check. Their breakfast service is exceptional, and we also added an optional kaiseki dinner through the hotel and it was amazing!! Additionally, not only was shuttle to Snow Monkey Park free, they also picked us up and dropped us off at Yudanaka station for free. I cannot recommend this place enough

The staff were so friendly and kind. They personally showed us where everything was and made us feel very welcome. The room we stayed in was very lovely & traditional, and the included breakfast had many choices with good variance.

Attentive and helpful staff, we accidentally left our bag at the snow monkey park cafe and without question they immediately drove us straight to the cafe to collect it and returned us to the train station. They also offer a shuttle bus to and from the monkey park, but be aware it goes to and from near the public bus stop and not at the car park near the entrance to the snow monkey park. Private onsen in the room was very hot, but after a few minutes running a cold tap it was OK. Public onsen was lovely, perfect temperatures and very atmospheric in the outside bath. Room was very big and featured a table to sit at. We also had a fridge. The breakfast was varied and had plenty of options that should suit most people; breads, fruits, fish, meats, and more. Would definitely recommend staying here, a beautiful place that isn't too far from the station, where the staff will do whatever they can to help, food is provided, and ultimately is very convenient for seeing the snow monkey park.
