Good location, they picked us up from the train station and also drove us too the monkey park. Friendly owners. Provided Yukata to use while walking around the town. Shibu onsen has very few dining options so choices are limited for dinner.

The rooms were very spacious with a private toilet. The location was fantastic and the hotel provided local drop off and pick up in their van. It was so convenient. We were dropped off at the snow monkeys and it was close enough to walk back. We loved using the public onsen which were right outside the hotel door. We did find the town a little unfriendly with regards to finding a place for dinner but the man in the ramen shop across the road was lovely and we really enjoyed our meal there.,

We had a transfer to the park, from and to the station. On the way back, we even had the chance to spot a Tanuki on the snowy road. The hosts are lovely. From every hotel we've tried, this one was the one I liked the most. It's very simple, so don't expect a fancy room (although it is unexpectedly spacious). That said, the first floor is beautifuly decorated. The price was surprisingly good compared to the other ryokans in the region. Please be mindful about heavy luggage. There are no elevators to the second floor. The location allows you to access every major spot in Shibu Onsen very easily. I suggest you ask about the story of the place and get along with the owners!!

Shibu Onsen is this quaint onsen town with 9 public baths. People would visit each of these Soto-yu dressed in their yukatas. Daymura Ryokan fits perfectly in this world with its traditional architecture. The ryokan is run by a husband and wife team which manages to keep the whole place spotlessly clean. The room was large enough for up to 6 people and had a balcony with a view of the street below. The room only had an adjoining toilet with baths either taken at the "his" and "hers" baths on the first floor or at the various Soto-Yus. During our visit, we were the only guest and the owner offered to fetch us to and from the Snow Monkey Park and also to the train station. Interestingly we found out that the owner learned to speak English from YouTube.

Wonderful ryokan in Shibu Onsen. Hosts are amazing - picked us up from Yudanaka station and dropped us back, same with the monkey park. Made everything so easy for us. Ryokan has indoor and outdoor onsens, the outdoor onsen is private. We used it at night when it was snowing and it was magical. Plenty of eateries close by, although the hours vary for each. Make sure you have cash as many don't accept cards.
