This is literally a hotel of two halves. The “castle” rooms (think large house rather than castle) are clean but very dated and no aircon. We asked to upgrade and were shown to an excellent modern room in a separate building with superb views over the city. Reception staff were very welcoming and tried hard to look after us. Basically the old rooms are certainly NOT worth the rating or cost in my opinion - the new rooms definitely are. We ate at the hotel and whilst the food was very good, dinner for two was €200 without any expensive wine. The location is sufficiently far from the city centre that you might well choose to stay so just prepare yourself for good food but at a price. Breakfast was also perfectly good - the usual arrangements of a German breakfast with eggs, bacon and sausage as hot options. The view from the terrace is lovely.

The hotel is in a very beautiful place on top of a hill, the hotel itself is an ancient castle type hotel with many interesting things from the past, the walk around the hotel in the vineyard area is absolutely refreshing with amazing views of Würzburg
