Dinner was very good, better than expected. Nice variety on the menu, served promptly, and staff were generally helpful and friendly (except on arrival in the restaurant where the welcome felt more like we were being told off for asking to confirm our booking).

Countryside location, friendly helpful staff, initially on arrival our rooms heating was not working, we called reception and after firstly trying to sort the problem , which they could not they moved us and upgraded to a Deluxe room as a courtesy. This room was spacious well heated (especially considering the freezing temperature) had all the usual equipment like ironing board, iron , hairdryer, but also a fridge and safe, and a very upmarket bathroom large sink with two spacioussides for his & hers cosmetics and self care equipment, and good lighting on a good sized mirror,( no bath but a very spacious shower). Corridor noise minimal, so slept like a log,,and the grounds are amazing. The gym has a multitude of equipment, free weights and machines, running machines etc. My wife enjoyed the spa treatments that are available and said it was definitely worth every penny spent she felt revitalised. The swimming pool looked great, though I didn't indulge. it was our 28th wedding anniversary getaway, so I wasn't to disappear to the gym or sauna like usual, lol. The restaurant was great , serving excellent food, with cheerful and attentive staff. A good selection of food that looks and tastes outstanding Lamb Kofta, lemon and thyme chicken burger, steaks definitely recommended. Breakfast self-service, hot and cold choices, so much to choose from, good quality food, some locally sourced produce, excellent selection of hot drinks available, tables cleaned and staff always on hand to help. Definitely booking again for the summer to make better use of the grounds and see the gardens in full bloom , absolutely loved it
