Great location close to the scenic Whanganui river with authentic, heritage features. It was lovely to be able to read about the historic building with newspaper articles displayed on the wall. Nice outdoor seating and gardens to wander around. The kitchen is small but seemed reasonably well-stocked. There are two lounge areas. We stayed in the BnB section with our own room and used the shared bathrooms. The bed was very comfortable and there were lovely welcoming touches. Braemar House is one of the few YHA facilities in NZ so it’s great to support it!

Lovely little place, the owners are very nice and welcoming. The shared kitchen & lounge area was nice, kitchen has everything you need. Dorms were alright, beds were a bit shaky when the other person turned in their bed
