We have read a lot of bad reviews about this place but we’ve decided to try it anyway. It was truly a surprise for us and I think that either the host has updated the place significantly recently, or some of the visitors’ expectations might not be very realistic. Also I think luxury might have different conotations for all of us, for my taste, Il Nido del Gabbiano was surely a luxurious accomodation. I liked that it was away from the crowd, isolated, private, with amazing sights just from our bedroom and terrace. The courtyard and the terraces are impressive. We had days with rain and wind, and also days with sun, and they were equally beautiful. We were in the room with the glass walls and waterfall. On rainy days, we could watch the thunderbolts above the sea and listen to the rain. There have been moments when there was cool outside, so we turned on the air conditioner on heat mode and it worked just fine. On sunny days, we went down to the private beach which is nice and where usually we were 2-3 couples. There are some stairs, but I think you can’t expect to have that sight of the sea from your room and terrace and a private beach at the same accomodation but without stairs. Our room was perfectly clean with no mold or ants. Breakfast was ok, croissants, cappucino and watermelon, served by a lady who greets you with a large smile in the morning. As the location, it’s between Cetara and Vietri sul Mare, the ferry stops in Cetara and from there its a 20 min walk. We went by feet and I can’t say it felt particularly scary or dangerous, you have to take the main road but drivers there seem to be used to the presence of pedestrians. The host gives you an accurate description of where you have to go and sends you the location on map, also he sends you a phone number of a guy that can take you there from Cetara for an acceptable price.

The room was complete glass on two sides. Wonderful view. A little waterfall ran by the side. Beautiful. Kettle supplied. Very good communication with booking, and a recommendation for the evening meal. Breakfast simple but good.
