The hotel is located not far from Velas, 10 min from the airport. The hotel is built from authentic materials ( wood). Very unique design . The room has all facilities, a lot of space , and high ceiling in the living room. The view from the hotel is amazing. Opposite the Pico mountain, you have the best view from this point! The swimming pool is a great advantage. These is a garden around and you can taste amazing jams that the owner , Leticia, is cooking herself👌 . The staff is extremely friendly! The rest aren’t has the guest recommendations for few years in the row from the experts. You better book the table in advance!

We had the most amazing stay at Hotel dos Moinhos. Loved everything about the property, the pool, the view to Pico. Breakfast was delicious, filled with local treats and delicious homemade jams with fruits they grow at the property. The restaurant was the best we found in Sao Jorge which was very convenient. Also Leticia was an amazing host and looked very well after us. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is outside downtown Velas in a gorgeous location. Although anything can be walked I wouldn’t recommend walking there since it is up a steep, long incline. The hotel is a collection of holiday cottages with hotel service (beds made, rooms.cleaned,…). The hotel has an excellent restaurant with a gorgeous view of Pico island and its volcano. The cottages are simple but clean. They don’t have airco so you’ll have to go with the seasonal flow of temperature and humidity. The hotel does provide mosquito repellant so you can,open the windows for ventilation. The breakfast is served at the table which is a pleasant change from buffet style. The owners are very hospitable and kind.

Stunning views, very friendly people, lovely comfortable spacious accommodation & reasonably priced. (Only improvement would have been air con in the bedroom!). Handy restaurant so we could have wine from Pico! We loved staying here!

Of all the islands I visited Sao Jorge is the most rugged. Man has forged a living among the steep hills and the cliffs descending into the ocean. Here also the hotel has carved a space with wide views and with a garden that gradually gives way to nature. The rooms are self contained cottages made of rough volcanic stone, partly covered by moss. It is not a place for the disabled unfortunately, there are uneven stone paths and steep climbs. But the people are very nice and the food is superb.
