Probably the best stay in Sri Lanka. We arrived earlier but were welcomed by the kind family with smiles, coconuts and we could already use the pool! The garden and pool are well maintained and the lodges are beautiful. The modern room had AC, mosquito net and hot water. As many accommodations in the area the price is very cheap because they can arrange a safari tour for you: the truth is we were not disappointed with it. We had breakfast right after the early safari, the best we had in Sri Lanka, with many local homemade delicious options. We recommend trying their dinner too, you won’t be disappointed! Maika lodge is only 10min walking from Udawalawe and had also many dining options nearby. We wish best of luck to this beautiful family and strongly recommend staying with them!

Very helpful and friendly stuff. No toiletries available in the room. For the price absolutely amazing! The breakfast during the safari was wonderful!

The accommodation is great with the pool. Rooms very spacious. We couldn’t do the safari unfortunately, but next time we definitely will.

This accommodation is very unassuming from the front but behind there are multiple lodges and a beautiful swimming pool. The staff were so friendly and rightfully proud of their home, they were really kind and helpful with advice for our onward travel. We ate dinner here which was delicious home-cooked Sri Lankan rice and curry. I would also recommend the hotel’s safari.

Came for safari which was booked with the owners and all ran very smoothly. The hut was really lovely and the area designed beautifully with access to a stunning pool. Tea and coffee on arrival and dinner option available if required. Hosts where very lovely and let us stay and use the pool after check out and even gave us more towels. Great value for money.

The staff were all very friendly, the private hut was clean, bed was comfortable, and had air con which was unexpected but hugely appreciated. The pool area is great too. They provided towels, gave us welcome tea/coffee and arranged our safari for the following day. They provided a huge delicious evening meal, tea/coffee in the morning before the safari, water and biscuits during the safari, and breakfast after safari. There was no need to check out prior to the safari, and we did not feel rushed at all. Very much enjoyed our stay and it was amazing - especially at such a cheap price. Only a quick 5 minute walk into the nearest village, and there is a restaurant across the road too. They also arranged our collection to their lodge, and a driver to our next accommodation for cheaper than PickMe app. Great communication from the lodge prior to our arrival also. We would definitely stay again!
