Hotel El Picnic is truly a gem at Lake Atitlán! From start to finish, our experience here was nothing short of exceptional. The accommodation is situated on a hillside, offering breathtaking views of the lake—a sight you’ll never forget. The open tent experience, where you can sleep under the stars with an incredible view of the water, was undoubtedly the highlight of our stay. The food here is fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and made with love. A special mention goes to the homemade bread, which is a true delight. There’s also an on-site beer garden and bakery, adding to the charm of the property. The owners Gaby & Jochen are wonderfully friendly and always available to help, making us feel at home throughout our stay. The property is nestled in the heart of nature, offering peace, tranquility, and a unique connection to the environment. Another rare and much-appreciated feature in Guatemala is the availability of hot water—a small luxury that makes a big difference. Lastly, everything is impeccably clean and well-maintained, showing the care and effort the owners put into every detail. If you're looking for a magical stay at Lake Atitlán with excellent service, delicious food, and an unforgettable experience in nature, Hotel El Picnic is the perfect choice. Highly recommended!

Where do I start??? The hosts obviously… the most amazing couple, super friendly, lovely, professional and people that put love into what they do. The space is the most amazing room we ever had. The connection with nature, the details, THE VIEW! You won’t find anything like the peace you find in this place! We should have kept it for a honeymoon! …forgot the food and the drinks and the staff, everything is perfect.

The setting is unbelievable, the views were just breathtaking. Gaby & Johan were very friendly and communicated everything really well to make our stay super easy. The food was also excellent. We would definitely love to come back for a longer stay!

The view is amazing from El Picnic, Johan and Gaby are lovely hosts, the food is delicious, best inclusive breakfast we’ve ever had. There is also an option for dinner which again was amazing.

A real paradise! Everything is great, food is fantastically delicious and it’s a wonderful experience to eat at the restaurant facing the volcanos. I was worried about the bugs or something before checkin but it isn’t a problem, the room is very clean and safe.

Loved everything about our stay. The view is incredible, the bed is insanely comfy and cosy and the rooms are thoughtfully designed to make for a really homely stay. The food! Loved breakfast and dinner. Beautiful varied home cooked food, freshly baked bread, loads of fruit. Gaby and Johannes were so welcoming and went above and beyond. It felt like staying with friends. Couldn't recommend this spot more.

This is a really special place. Absolutely stunning views across the lake from rooms and the restaurant. The room was beautiful and comfortable and loved showering with a view! The staff were wonderful and the food was fantastic - thank you to Chef Jorge for being not just a great chef, but a great host. Jorge helped us arrange transfers and was always on hand to assist us, nothing was too much trouble.

Everything was fantastic! The view was amazing, I had the comfiest bed, the food was delicious, and the owners and staff are genuinely wonderful people. Don’t hesitate for even a second to book this accommodation - it is an absolute dream and I feel fortunate to have spent some time there.

What to say about El Picnic!! We have nothing but amazing things to say! From the minute we arrived we were made to feel like part of this beautifully run family business. We had a stunning glamping pod which had a view of the lake and the volcanoes which you just never got tired of with its ever changing colours with the weather and time of day! Who needs a TV with that kind of view! The food was unbelievably good we ate breakfast which was included but also dinner which was cooked by the owner Johan. He also makes a very delicious rum based old fashioned which was the perfect night cap! Gabi his wife is the most welcoming person whose laugh is infectious. She was so kind and generous with her time and local suggestions which were all wonderful. She also booked our bus tickets online in Spanish when I couldn’t do it! We have never been so well looked after. El Picnic should be your only choice in stunning Lake Atitlan.
