It was very homey, our host was absolutely sweet (she even brought zucchini from her own garden for us to use and looked up the proper forecast for my hike), and the kitchen was very well equipped. There's a cozy garden and a lovely community area where you eat. Several books on great hikes and a very clean bathroom area too. The hostel is very close to a gas station and a supermarket, which is perfect. Feels a lot like a youth hostel in it not being luxurious, but that being the entire charm of it. I absolutely loved my stay!

Staying here felt like being in a home in the best way!! The kitchen was clean and had plenty of space. The backyard and living room were so lovely to hang out in. And Sharon was SO helpful as we prepped to do the Tongariro Crossing (looked at the weather reports with us, had QR codes on the wall for booking shuttles, had checklists on the wall for what to bring when doing the crossing, etc)

Friendly owner and everything was super clean. Nice garden too and well equipped and clean kitchen. Small lodge, it makes you feel like you’re at home.

Great relaxed hostel, really easy 'check in' process. Sandra was friendly and helpful and a master of organising the car parking. Room was a good size with two sets of bunks. A lovely space to chill in before and after the 'Crossing' The cats were an added bonus

Very casual and easy going. Free shower towel is supplied too. Owner is very helpful.
