The hotel is ideally situated in the middle of Tiraspol, with many of the rooms having a fantastic view of the City Hall (the former House of Soviets) - which is one of, if not, Tiraspol's most iconic and characteristic buildings. The staff are friendly and speak English, for those visiting with no or little experience in Russian. They will check you in quickly and efficiently, making sure you have everything you need for your stay. There is an Agroprombank branch situated along the hotel's ground level, where you can easily convert currency into Pridenestrovian rubles to pay for your room. I wasn't asked to present my passport when converting into rubles, but expect to need to show your passport (and potentially your migration card) when checking into Hotel Russia at reception. I particularly liked our room (twin room) which was spacious yet cozy, with the addition of an aforementioned balcony being a real bonus - although you might not be as lucky if you don't explicitly pay the extra fee to guarantee yourself the same view. The hotel is a short walk from the main restaurants and shops on 25 October Street, Surorov Square, the Green Market and so on. There is also an Agroprombank, Eximbank and Sheriff supermarket within five minutes walk for currency conversion and shopping. After a busy day of travelling and touring the sights in Tiraspol and Bender, this hotel was a perfect place to relax, unwind, and catch some rest in a fascinating place to visit!

Excellent hotel. Perfect location just down the road from the House of the Soviets, an easy twenty-minute stroll from the Suvorov Monument, and a short taxi ride from the station. Several members of staff on the front desk speak good English and are polite and friendly. They went out of their way to help me, ordering taxis which arrived promptly, but even supplying a spoon so that I could eat a pot of Aquatir caviar in my room! Very good value by international standards. Would recommend this hotel to anyone headed for Tiraspol.

I stayed in Hotel Russia for more than a week. Overall the customer services in the Hotel, in the “cafe” and in the “terrace” was good I had some not good and some good reception at this Hotel reception desk which is at frontline of the hotel services. I leave out the details. There were five receptionists at the reception desk at different days in rotation during my stay at this Hotel. One of them was Anastasia Vitalii who was very good at customer services. She was at the reception desk in the morning I arrived in the Hotel. She patiently listened to my questions and gave me information about the services in this Hotel, “cafe” and “terrace “. Then I asked Anastasia questions about services outside the Hotel, such as money exchanges, taxi services and local SIM card purchase. She patiently listened and gave answer. In contrast, it is frustrating experience to get a wrong order in many Restaurants and many cafes in this city, mainly due to impatience to listen to customers orders. During my stay in the Hotel, I asked Anastasia to call taxi for me at three different days. Two of three days, she got out of the desk, walked over to the taxis and requested the taxis drivers to inform me about the payment and services. She cares for customers. She cares for her job. She cares for the hotel. Based on my experience, I recommend Anastasia Vitalii for a reward from Hotel Russia.
