What I liked most about this hotel were the recently renovated rooms! They were modern, clean and very comfortable. The location was also perfect, just a short walk from the Timaru town centre which made exploring really easy.

Room was simple but ok. The halls and entrance decor was hidious and not very welcoming, the bright colours killed the style of the old place, the halls looked morbid like a halfway house for people when released from prison. They should have stuck to plain simple colours it can be done cheap but nice but the reds blues blacks and bright yellow colous were just awful!. Rooms were tidy and clean even had some had a bath tub. The horrible thing is it felt clostriphobic and soooo HOT!! Couldnt open windows for air, id say for saftey reasons as its up high but they needed to at least supply aircon or a good strong fan to rotate air around the place it was so stuffy! The bed was ok, and could have done with extra pillows. A Microwave would have been great also. Tv was shocking!!! 4 chanels only so that needs some improvement. A Good heater on wall was supplied for winter mths. Also supplied were teas coffees, milk pods, also basic toiletries. Another handy item would be a dark makeup facecloth so not to stain the white ones. I think the big rooms are worth $120/130 a night maximum which is what we paid. Rooms up top level have been renovated and are more modern. Resterant food was lovely.

We stayed on Level 2 and the rooms were excellent. They have recently been upgraded and the bed was very comfortable. The check in was easy and the check in staff were great and so were the Saturday night staff in the bar.

Very dated as a whole, TV has only 3 channels - room was quite nice Dark haired young lady working behind bar was lovely and great to advise on the best things to do near by No plug sockets near bed Very damaged dressing table etc Would stay elsewhere had I known the standard of room facilities

Our room was lovely and newly renovated. The staff were lovely and we enjoyed our drinks in the bar.
