Beautiful guesthouse with a very friendly and helpful owner. We stayed for 5 nights over new year and he provided us with a microwave as all the restaurants were closed and even gave us a plate with new year dishes. The rooms are amazing, very spacious, comfortable beds and interesting art works. The private indoor and outdoor onsen was amazing, we had lots of snow which made our baths even more enjoyable. I was initially worried that the rooms might be cold with -15C outside but we didn’t need to worry, it was very cosy! I would recommend a car if you’re staying to explore as there aren’t many buses. There’s plenty of good restaurants nearby and a konbini a few mins away. We’ve already booked to come again in the Autumn 😊

Art Inn is a truly unique residence. The rooms themselves are a visual treat, and the rest of the property is covered in artworks you can check out during your stay. The staff are extremely friendly, and make their best efforts to communicate in English if required. Each room is afforded a private outdoor onsen, one of the few relatively affordable places you can secure such a privilege. The water in this onsen is quite acidic, so just be careful not to lose track of time in the bath, quite the risk due to the tranquil riverside location. The area has a really top notch izakaya nearby - and it's a joy to have incredible artworks, a private onsen, and delicious food all available so close at hand. The izakaya always fills up quickly, so be sure to get there early, but it's only a five minute walk from the inn, so that's no problem at all. There are beautiful natural sites in the surrounding area as well, with Kami-no-ko-ike being the stand-out, only a short drive away.

It’s our 3rd time here and still enjoyed the private onsen. This time we stayed in a different room and it was different but spacious so we were happy.

This is one of the most interesting and unique places I've ever stayed, it was a real highlight of our trip. We loved meeting Zen, who really went out of his way to make us feel welcome with little additional thoughtful touches. His place is a true work of art and we loved noticing new things throughout our stay there. We were there during the extreme cold art exhibition and we absolutely loved the way the artworks were all displayed.

Art and travel come together at this special and quirky abode. Paul Klee said: art should be like a holiday,something to give a man the opportunity to see things differently and to change his point of view. Paul Klee, painter (1879 - 1940) ARTINn is not for those who are happiest with bland, anonymous, predictable holiday accommodation. We absolutely loved our three nights at Room 2, loved our own outdoor onsen under the oak tree and loved exploring Akan- Mashu National Park. Our most sincere thanks to the charming, helpful and kind artist,owner,manager who patiently assisted us to locate a lost bag. We highly recommend this wonderful Inn.

It was nice to stay somewhere with lots of space. I loved the decorations. The onsen was a real attraction - the water is very good. There's a lot to do nearby, particularly if you have a car, and several good restaurants in the town nearby.

It is an unusual hotel, populated with artistic works elaborated by the owner. There are only three rooms, each different from the others and each having an indoor and outdoor onsen.
