The fine print
From 1st January 2023, a tourist tax of RM 10 per room per night is applied to all foreign guests. This tax is not included in the room rate and must be paid upon check-in. Truly exceptional service at the Datai, probably the best in Malaysia! What stood out to me were also the Covid SOPs in place, which were strictly adhered to (double masks, shields, constant sanitizing, low-touch breakfasts, etc). I felt very safe. Food was pricey (understandable since I can imagine the transportation costs), though warranted as it was delicious. Breakfast spread was great. Resort was well kempt, room was clean and comfortable, and the activities provided were worth it (rainforest walk with guides, non motorised water sports, etc). Shout out to Edo at the gym, who was very attentive and was so good with the assisted stretching! If you're a golfer, the Els Club is next door and is a fantastic course. Again - service, service, service. This is what I call a 5-star resort. I will be back!
