Ryokan Overview

Yamakyu features classic Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi. Indoor and outdoor public baths are available for guests to relax in. JR Takayama Train Station is a 20-minute walk away and a free shuttle service is provided from the station. The air-conditioned rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. A TV, yukata robes, safety box, towels and green tea bags are provided. Includes a private toilet but bathrooms are shared.
Guests can enjoy the beautiful Japanese garden or request for relaxing massages. There are 1 computers at the lobby that guests can use. Complimentary coffee and a computer with free internet access are available as well. Local products can be purchased at the souvenir shop. There is a washing machine on site that guests can use for an additional fee.
A traditional multi-course meal is served for dinner and a Japanese set menu is available for breakfast. All meals are served at the dining room.
Yamakyu Inn is a 5-minute walk from Old Town, Takayama Jinya and the morning market. Hida No Sato Folk Village is a 20-minute bus ride away.

The fine print
We can provide a mild allergic diet. But our most dishes include fish stock, soy and wheat(gluten), we cannot change them. We cannot change the small amount of egg, chicken, or nut extract contained in the seasoning. We use the same oil we use to fry shrimp, crab, and fish routinely to cook meals. Thank you for your understanding.
The property's shuttle bus leaves JR Takayama Station at the following times: 13:30, 14:30, 15:30, 16:30, 17:30 To use the hotel's free shuttle, please make a reservation at least 1 day in advance and specify at which time guests would like to take the shuttle. Contact details can be found on the booking confirmation.
Guests without a dinner meal plan can check-in until 22:00.
The hotel has a curfew at 23:00. Guests cannot enter or leave the hotel after this time.This property will not accommodate hen, stag or similar parties.

“Don’t miss this place if you are heading to Takayama”

The meals were excellent but way too much food for non-breakfast folks :) . It was great for big eaters and they really try to give you the most Japanese experience.we had our 6 and 11yo travelling with us and even the kids felt comfortable. All staff were so lovely and pleasant, that has to be their top score.

The best experience during our whole stay in Japan. The food was incredibly delicious. The attitude was amazing. The ryokan is small, traditional, don't expect lux but if you want to touch the authentic Japan experience, Oyado Yamakyu is the place.

Everything! Especially the food. This is the highlight of our trip in japan. We got to experience the japanese life style at ryokan, it is just perfect.
