This property is genuinely exceptional. Nestled at the top of a hillside overlooking the beautiful snowcapped roofs of Takayama, our stay was something out of a fairytale. The property was well appointed, and had lovely and well-thought out touches, including designer toiletries, a well stocked fridge with locally-sourced drinks, and all the home comforts you need. My husband and I absolutely loved the sauna, and choice of both open air and cypress baths, which after a week in Tokyo was refreshing and rejuvenating. The check in process was a breeze, and the lounge and luggage services made our transfer very easy. Jackson was super friendly and accommodating, and really went the extra mile to make our stay memorable. I cannot recommend this place enough for anyone looking to take in the crisp mountain air in Takayama.

The service could not have been better, everything was absolutely clean and beautiful, brilliant location, we enjoyed the traditional experience, definitely recommend. The host also provided some fantastic restaurant recommendations. We enjoyed our stay in Takayama, especially when it started snowing! The bed was super comfy, not so hard like most of the other beds in other accommodation in Japan.

Stunning property! 5 star accommodation with everything you needed for an extra comfortable stay with winter surroundings you cannot beat! Breakfast laid out daily, indoor and outdoor baths with sauna is perfect way to unwind after a day exploring Takayama which can be seen atop the hill which the house is situated. Iori Shiroyama was 10/10 from start to finish, their lobby is called the lounge and it is situated within a 3 minute walk from Takayama station & you are greeted by staff who explain everything to you and escort you to your accommodation. Complimentary drinks fridge fully stocked with both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks was a nice touch especially paired with a mini ice machine. Tatami floors and interiors are warm and cosy. Could not fault at all! Well kept property I would 100% stay again & recommended to all! Iori Shiroyama is also within stones throw from the Takayama castle ruins and walking track for nature walks.

We had an exceptional stay at Iori Stay TENMAN! The traditional Japanese house was beautifully designed, with a well equipped kitchen, peaceful tatami rooms throughout and a comfortable futons that ensured restful nights. The outdoor bath, surrounded by snow, was an absolute highlight and created an idyllic, tranquil experience. Each morning, a delicious breakfast was delivered right to the door, and the check-in staff were friendly, responsive, and attentive. Upon entering, the Japanese rock garden set a calming tone, enhancing the overall atmosphere. Located just a 3-minute walk from Takayama Station, it’s very convenient, with a fantastic yakiniku restaurant around the corner (beware of long wait times). While the property doesn’t have laundry facilities, the nearby laundromat easily resolved that. Iori Stay TENMAN offers the perfect blend of traditional beauty and modern comfort—highly recommended for anyone visiting Takayama!

The whole family of 5 stays together in this house. Natural, authentic old traditional house with modern facilities. There’s laundry, coffee machine, small cooking facilities. They gave us some local sweets which I thought was a nice gesture. The check in area is a separate area near the station. That was a good lounge area to wait and rest. They provided free transport to the accommodation from the lounge and complimentary taxi pick up to the station on the day of departure. This is really good otherwise, it’s too far to walk with the luggage. There’s breakfast provided by the hotel and they were so punctual in sending to the accommodation. The taxi arranged by the accommodation was so on time. I really like how things are done as per requested. Bath area is huge! It’s like a mini onsen. The bath “tub”is big enough for 2 or even 3. There are two toilets at level 1 so it’s more than enough for the family.

Beautiful modern-style accommodation tucked away in old Takayama - we arrived at IORI Stay after a lot of continuous travel so it was a perfect place to slow down for a couple of days, relax and take in the beautiful historic center of Takayama. Staff were lovely and helpful, the breakfast bento boxes were delicious, and they accommodated us as vegetarians - the accommodation had enough luxury but was also minimalist in a way that made the whole experience feel charming and more like home than a hotel.
