Itinerar “Frugal yet sufficient for a short stay”

The Slobi is located about 3 km off the center of Sturovo, next to a fairly large industrial plant from the socialist period; during those times the Slobi was evidently the associated guest house to accommodate visiting functionaries and engineers. It has since been renewed somewhat but (in fair accordance with the price of 30 Euro for a single room) the basic, frugal-yet-sufficient setup (reminiscent of a youth-hostel) has remained. For example, two separate rooms share one bathroom, although my neighbour room was not inhabitated (perhaps this is a general policy). The room and bathroom were clean, and the location silent. The Slobi is situated relatively close (about 2 km) to the Sturovo train station.

I liked the cleanliness of the rooms and the very nice lady at the reception who was helpful. We came with two bicycles which we were able to securely store in the building. The building might look old on the outside, but the inside was nicely renovated. It was very spacious.

Nice and modern room and bathroom. Heating works and windows close well. Towel, shower gel, handwash and satrter amount of tp supplied. Fridge in the room and in the shared kitchen as well. Kitchen equipped. Wascmachine in the basement, you need to get the key from reception. There is a shared broom, dustpan, mop and drying rack for a floor. About a km walk from town, there are two paralel footpaths. Place was quiet at night. There is plastic and paper recycling on site, and glass, metall, oil, biological recycling in town.

The nice lady at the reception honored the arrival time, which was my biggest concern since we were running a bit late. Otherwise, a pretty decent accommodation if you need to stay overnight in Štúrovo. The parking lot is right in front of the main entrance, it's fenced off, and free of charge. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable enough. We had access to the common kitchen in the hallway.
