Mitra Hostel is just behind the main street and a short walk to all the shops and restaurants.We ate most of our meals at the hostel. The breakfasts were great but we did not always enjoy the evening meals, mainly a dahl rice mix. The whole place was basically run by Rusi, a volunteer who went out of his way to make us all comfortable. He was very approachable and after 1 week felt like a friend. He basically prepared all the food, and cleaned all the rooms all by himself. It is a great place to stay if you need a cheap bed in Sonamarg as most of the other places are really expensive. We will definitely stay there again on our way to Ladahk.

Hostel is in a very quiet and easily accessible area in Sonamarg. The host Rajendra was extremely friendly and helpful in guiding and helping with information along with the support staff. The food is excellent with great tea. The hostel is close to Baltal which is a check point for those going to Amarnath caves

I spent 3 days there and it was so relaxing. The mattress was so good, I slept so well. Raj was an amazing host, willing to help you. The food was really tasty and fresh.
