The perfect stopover back to JHB! Beautiful clean rooms stocked with milk and tea. A delicious home cooked meal in her spectacular garden. She even made me a vegan burger! Dee Dee was extremely accommodating as we travelled with our dogs and new baby. Couldn’t recommend enough!

What a fabulous gem. We had a fun and relaxing stop. Dee Dee communicated well and kept us informed. Dinner and breakfast were superb. The homemade burgers- roll and pattie for dinner were so tasty. We had good company in Dee Dee and the other guests. We'll be back!

Black Cottage was one of my favorite road trip stopovers of all time. Dee Dee is a wonderful host, a great cook, and a creator of the most beautiful spaces. From the garden to the art to the food, everything at Black Cottage is a feast for the senses. I want to come back for two or three nights to fully enjoy all Black Cottage has to offer.

The accommodation is ideal for an overnight stop. A very welcoming host who loves pets. It is a quiet location and away from the national road. It was a cold night and the under-carpet heating and electric blanket ensured we were most comfortable. Plenty of hot water for a good shower. DeeDee goes out of her way to serve a tasty dinner and a full breakfast to round off a great stay.

Our room had underfloor heating and electric blankets so we were snug and warm on a chilly night. Dee Dee was such a delightful host and cook and allowed us to use her interesting lounge. What a gem
