Douglas is incredibly hospitable, and made our stay so enjoyable. Absolutely delightful service, amazing breakfast spread with a great variety of food, and lovely shared space for guests where you can make yourself a cup of tea or coffee and get a sweet treat, and relax/read etc. Little details like beautiful linen, bathrobes and lovely books on Portuguese food and travel were really nice additions. The attention to detail was obvious. It might not be the closest to the tourist sites, but welll worth as it was such a relaxing and comfortable place to come back to after a day of exploring. Wonderfully quiet too, we loved our stay, and are so glad we stayed two nights rather than one.

Beautiful facility in a renovated mansion. Pride and care apparent. Lots of extra touches and the most luxurious robes ever. Easy to access main sites. Fabulous breakfast to start your day.

After a disappointing stay up the coast, it was such a treat to arrive at Casa da Estefanea and see our room. The huge bed, high quality bed linen and towels and the fluffy dressing gowns-It felt totally luxurious, scrupulously clean and welcoming. We only booked in the morning and arrived a couple of hours later. Communication was immediate, by email and whatsapp, and check in information and the self check-in was easy to follow. Douglas was a very friendly and personable manager and extremely helpful in assisting us with applying for an online refund for our pre-booked tickets to the Pena palace which was closed due to storm damage. Breakfast was delicious. Complimentary Port, beer, tea/coffee and small sweet treats, available in the afternoon We would definitely recommend staying here!

Wonderful management, great breakfast, little touches like interesting books in the lounge, use of Portugese handcrafts, fluffy robes, wonderful smelling toiletries, and afternoon drinks.

The Casa da Estefanea offers the facilities and quality of service that you would expect from a 4-star hotel. The breakfast was delicious and offered a large variety of options. The B&B manager was so lovely and helpful, and the location was amazing. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. I could describe many more amazing things including the aesthetic of the common areas and the room. Furthermore, the soundproofing was great!
