On arrival it wasn’t possible to just have a gym key you had to go each time to reception to get one. The receptionist forgot to give me my receipt and had to go again to reception to request it. I wanted breakfast in my room, hung my order on the handle well before 11pm as per the instructions, the next morning, no breakfast and my order had not been collected. I went to the breakfast room which made be rush as hadn’t planned that, the breakfast was poor and only one tea/coffee machine working.

Not enough pillows. A little dated in rooms, but lobby and restaurant were lovely. However for the price you can not complain. Beds were comfy, room was spacious, lovely ritual products in the bathroom.

We enjoyed our stay however there are a few things that could do with some attention. 1) food - it was reasonably priced however some food items were out of stock. We arrived on a Friday therefore surely the hotel should have stocked up for the weekend guests? 2) our bathroom had a shower head linked to the bath. When we used this it flooded the entire bathroom. 3) a generator that was turned on or something similar to that effect was humming from around 5am in the morning. For those who are light sleepers I’m sure they’ll agree it was irritating. 4) the price of the car park was absolutely extortionate. I realise it’s in town however it will put people off from visiting the Novotel I’m sure. 5) the pillows - wow they were extremely lumpy and very hard. Not all of them however, 2 out of the 4 in our room were like that. The staff were helpful, however service was slow due to their not being enough staff on behind the bar etc. not their fault but more staff would assist in waiting times. The room was nice, was a little outdated but was clean, looked nice and for a family with a 3 year old in tow it was fine. The swimming pool was lovely and the gym area. We had to book a slot but that worked fine. The water was warm and the facilities in there were lovely. The price of the hotel was extremely reasonable and we enjoyed our stay. The above points I’ve highlighted are not deal breakers for us and we will return in the future but something for the hotel to consider. Thank you for having us and for a lovely weekend celebrating our anniversary. It was lovely break away and much needed.

Location Room size Reception area and lift area on the bedroom floors I love how quiet and dark the bedrooms are in Novotels - always have an excellent nights sleep

Extremely Dog Friendly, very accommodating. Staff very friendly, professional and helpful. Made our stay stress free and thoroughly enjoyable. Central location , close to train station and shops, however, despite this it was very quiet and a peaceful stay. Great walks on doorstep and lots of dog friendly places to eat and drink.

The lounge/bar. Service was very slow. And it took a long time for tables to be cleared after other guests vacate the table. The ice cream sundae was terrible, the wafer was soft/soggy and given spoon that was too big (can’t get to the bottom of the sundae glass).
