Warm & welcoming host- very proud of his picture perfect castle next to a lake with big old trees in a beautiful French country setting on the edge of the traditional French village of Saint Maixant.

The owner met us when we arrived, he could not have been more welcoming. He made the stay interesting as well as exceptionally pleasant. The chateau was incredibly interesting

It is a stunning property: a beautiful chateau in a lovely setting, in a picturesque village 5km from Aubusson - itself a fascinating history town celebrated for it’s weaving and particularly tapestries. The chateau has been beautifully renovated but absolutely retains its historical characteristics and charm. It is furnished will interesting furniture of earlier eras, including some exquisite tapestries. The hosts are charming. The breakfast was excellent. Our 4th floor bedroom was equipped with an excellent shower and Earl Grey tea-making facilities, which we appreciated. There is a chapel, a cinema and an indoor swimming pool, which we didn’t have time to use, but looked good. The grounds of the chateau are lovely.
