The fine print
According to the Brazilian Federal Law 8.069/1990, minors under 18 years of age cannot check into hotels unless they are accompanied by their parents or a designated adult. If the minor is accompanied by an adult other than his parents, it will be necessary to present a written authorisation for the minor to check into the hotel. Such authorisation must be notarised and signed by both parents.All minors under 18 years of age also need to present a valid ID with photo, to prove their identity and that of his/her parents. This must be presented even if a minor is accompanied by his/her parents.

Location across the road from the beach. Our room was large and king size bed. It's an older hotel but excellent value compared to the other beach front hotels.

Olinda is truly a hidden gem in Rio! We had a wonderful stay here — the location is absolutely perfect, the rooms are spotless, and the facilities have everything you need for a comfortable stay. Special thanks to Marcus, who made us feel so warmly welcomed and cared for, just like family. His kindness and hospitality truly made our experience extra special. Great location on Copacabana beach. Foyer looked impressive apart from dirty marks on the wall behind. Nothing a bit of paint wouldn’t fix so can’t understand why it hasn’t been done. First night there we had to get someone to fix the toilet cistern as it wouldn’t refill with water. The floor hadn’t been swept properly but otherwise the apartment was clean. Bed was super comfy.

Great location facing Copacabana beach. If you are a light sleeper there is some noise (people partying, traffic) until early hours - I'm not so no real problem for me. Rooms are pretty basic but comfortable and roomy - the hotel is clean and staff welcoming although it is an 'older' style hotel. Breakfast was good with a wide range of choice. I did have one evening meal and distinctly average.

The best thing about the Olinda Rio is its location overlooking Copacabana beach. The bed was enormous and the staff, with one glaring exception, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine.
