Eric the Red is a perfectly located Guest House in Reykjavik just 60m/200ft from Hallgrímskirkja Church which is the biggest church and single most central point in Reykjavik, we are in short walking distance from all the best Reykjavik has to offer, whether it’s Museums, Restaurants, Cafés, Bars, Shopping Streets, Parks, the BSi bus station, Geothermal Swimming pools or Lake Tjörnin, and yet positioned in a quiet area of the center.
Eric the Red is a family run business and we try as best we can to give you the personal assistance and recommendations we would expect from our hosts whilst traveling abroad, so please don’t hesitate to ask about anything you have on your mind, we are here to assist in making your trip and experience to Iceland as pleasant as possible.
We offer rooms with comforatable beds, fresh towels, free Wi-Fi and a TV. An electric kettle, tea and cups are provided in each room at Eric the Red Guest house, along with an in-room washbasin and hairdryer. Most room have a private bathroom , while few others have access to shared facilities. Guests can also relax on Eric the Red's furnished Terrace or in the Garden, however most guests prefer to have coffee or tea in our Large dining room consisting a large table that seats up to 30 Guests. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and preparing meals.

The hotel is located right next to the church in Reykjavik, just about a three-minute walk away, which was a pleasant surprise. The suite was spacious enough to accommodate the three of us. Overall, it was a great stay!

Great location, just a few mins walk to the main street and 10mins walk to BSI bus terminal (walk will take longer in winter with snow and rain, will be harder with a big luggage on the icy slippery roads so just take the bus). Bus stop no.8 from/to the airport is also a few mins walk away. You can see the famous church from the door step. Staff was friendly and always up for a good chat, he also gave me good tips and advice for getting around the city. Room was warm and bed was comfy. Bathroom came with nice Icelandic toiletries.

There are some food left by previous customers in the fridge, which can be used for free! The location is quite close to the church, around 5 mins walk.

Everything, I wanted to give it 20 out of 10. It is simply like home. Wonderful owner, perfect spot to visit Reykjavik and every close to where the buses to and from anywhere are. Really everything you need in the kitchen, a feeling of comaradershio among the travellers.

Great room and great location. Staff were friendly and helpful during checkin. The private but separate bathroom was spacious and had a view of the cathedral. I would not hesitate to rebook if I return to Iceland.

It was very close to the city center, the beds were comfortable and we had no problems finding free parking near by. We also liked that guests were asked to take off their shoes and use the provided slippers in the house. We had a room with bathroom, the shower (that was within the room) was very nice. There was very cute separate bathroom with toilet and sink within the room.
