Hostel Overview

Located 3.5 km from Reykjavik city centre, this eco-certified hostel is beside the geothermally heated Laugardalslaug Swimming Pool. It features a family friendly coffee house, food and bar, 2 communal kitchens and free private parking.
At Dalur - HI Eco Hostel, guests can choose accommodation with either private or shared bathrooms. Free WiFi is available throughout the hostel.
Dalur Cafe offers mostly organic breakfast, fairtrade coffee & tea, local meals, and drinks. Guests can barbecue on the terrace all year round.
Leisure options include a communal lounge and an outdoor terrace.

Basic room, as expected, was very clean and beds were comfy especially for being bunk beds. Great location with a bus stop right outside for city bus & tours. Baggage storage was extremely helpful before being able to check in! Good breakfast. Would definitely stay here again!

Basic with everything you need. If you are visiting Reykjavík for the sights and not the city life then it’s a perfect retreat for basic boarding without breaking the bank. Sleep, eat and get out to the sights. Staff were excellent.

The location is perfect and check in in works very smoothy, room was clean and simple to change room temperatures, I like the iron cover for the radiator as it helps when drying wet cloths and swimming gear

The staff were super kind and helpful. The location was good … on the outskirts of the city but easy to go in and out by car or bus. The rooms were ok but very basic.

My first hostel experience, and honestly, I’m kind of ruined for all future ones…Outside, it might be freezing, but inside you will find warmth, thanks to Alex, Patricia, and the entire smiling crew. After a long day of travel, you might find yourself wrapped in a movie marathon, watching John Wick or Home alone but only if Alex deems you worthy of the remote (don’t mess this up). This place is basically a giant hug in hostel form: cozy spaces, amazing travelers of all ages - you might make friends ranging from 18 to 70, or maybe even older! As a solo female traveler, I felt completely safe, comfortable, and honestly, like I was part of the family ♥️

Location is a bit further out but they offer free parking if you have a hire car. All the facilities were great have two kitchens is needed as the hostel is massive and services the camping sites. Very easy to check in and the staff were very helpful.

I like the free parking, kitchen was well equipped and heating was great! Room was big for a family of 4 and facilities were aplenty. Great amenities nearby, there is a pastry shop called Passion Reykjavík nearby, thumbs up! We managed to catch a glimpse of aurora on our first night right outside the hostel! Comfy beds too! I slept well!
