I recently had the pleasure of staying at Tropical Sands in Rarotonga for a week, and while it was a wonderful experience, there were a few areas that could be improved. The location of the resort is absolutely perfect - it's right on the beach and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The convenience store is a stone throw away. Bus stop literally across the road. The hosts are knowledgeable and truly willing to assist with basically anything. However, I did find the heat and humidity to be quite challenging, and the lack of air conditioning in our room made it difficult to get a good night's sleep at times. Despite this, the resort has everything you need for a comfortable stay, including well-maintained grounds. However, some of the facilities are starting to show their age and could benefit from an update. Overall, I would still recommend Tropical Sands to anyone looking for a relaxing beach vacation in Rarotonga. With a few tweaks to the facilities and the addition of air conditioning, it would be a truly exceptional resort. Rating: 4/5 stars

Loved the ocean view and lovely sea sound and breeze. Right by bus stop just down the road from Muri 1 way , town the other . Hosts were great , friendly and accomodating

I loved that they had aircon and the property is right by the beach and close to Muri beach. There is also an eatery and gas station just across the road. Hosts were so lovely and helpful.

This place is a hidden gem, Rudy and Kanoe are amazing hosts,they are very helpful with suggestions of places to eat and activities to do on the island. I would highly recommend staying at Tropical Sands,we are most definitely going to return on our next trip😁🏝🍍🥭🥰

From the moment we arrived at Tropical Sands, we knew we had found a slice of paradise. The property is stunning, offering breathtaking views of the lagoon and a tranquil, serene atmosphere. But what truly made our stay exceptional were our incredible hosts, Rudy and Kanoe. From the outset, Rudy and Kanoe welcomed us with genuine warmth and hospitality that made us feel immediately at home. They were always available to provide tips on the best local spots, help us organize activities, or simply share stories about the island’s rich culture. Their passion for Rarotonga and their commitment to ensuring every guest has an unforgettable experience was evident in every interaction. On top of their hospitality, Rudy and Kanoe are also fantastic artists. Their talent is beautifully reflected throughout the property, with unique pieces of art that add a personal and creative touch to every corner. Whether it’s handcrafted décor or stunning paintings, their artistic flair creates a vibrant yet soothing atmosphere that perfectly complements the natural beauty of the island. The accommodations themselves were immaculate. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities we could need. Waking up each morning to the sound of the ocean and stepping onto our private patio with a view of the turquoise waters was a dream come true. The attention to detail throughout the property was remarkable, from the lush gardens to the cozy communal spaces. One of the highlights of our stay was the personalized touch that Rudy and Kanoe bring. They go above and beyond to make sure every guest feels like part of their extended family. Whether it was a surprise platter of fresh local fruits or a recommendation for a secluded beach, every moment felt curated just for us. If you’re considering a stay at Tropical Sands, don’t hesitate. It’s not just a place to rest your head; it’s a place to create lifelong memories.

Location excellent, with coffee, supermarket and Villi's just mitres away. Rudy and Kanoe lovely and helpful 😀 Room with a view was amazing. No children and quiet.... apart from the sea and the wind 😅

The location was amazing, we saw whales out the front on multiple occasions over our 8 night stay. It was a convenient spot, walking distance to a shop and takeaway and not far to Muri Beach. The room was amazing, very useable space, all we needed was there and it was a gorgeous view. It felt private enough as no other 'hut' is looking directly at your entertaining space and there were privacy screens on the deck. The best part was the lovely hosts. Rudy & Kanoe were so friendly and accommodating, if we went back to Raro I would definitely stay here again.

It was fabulous accommodation- situated on the Pacific Ocean. Very picturesque, very clean and the host were very friendly.
