Located in Raasay island, quite isolated which makes it magical, especially in daylight. The bar, the library and the terrace outside gave us a lot of options.

We loved this elegantly appointed, comfortable and historically fascinating property in a most beautiful location. The friendly staff, nice restaurant and wonderful peaceful location with lovely walks and other activities (canoing etc) are perfect. It's an easy ferry ride to Skye so works as base for me colouring skye as well.

We liked everything very much, except for the one day of relentless rain. However, because we spent it curled up in front of the fire in the library, torn between our books and the magnificent view, the day was actually a highlight for us, a welcome respite at the end of our 7 week holiday. We also especially liked the comfort of the bed and linens, the very pleasant and helpful staff, and dinners in the restaurant. Our only suggestion is to ensure the hot food at the breakfast buffet stays hot — even when we were there for 8am opening, the hot food was only warm-ish. Small quibble for this highly recommended grand old lady beautifully restored and owned by the community. A treasure.
