“Beautiful place and beautiful people”

Beautiful decoration Artsy , cozy Nather managing property is brilliant guy, he took us on various tours and we all had great time. Wildlife around is beautiful.

“I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Maiku to friends or family visiting. The staff, especially Neider, were so lovely an”

The property is in a great location, an easy walk from the pier, but quite quiet, backing on to trees (I saw two monkeys jumping through the branches just before breakfast this morning). It has a wonderful lush entrance and it really is almost built like a treehouse. There is a lovely open communal area that it’s nice to hang out in- if you have to wait out a downpour. It helps that the staff and other guests were so friendly.

“Lovely hostel in Puerto Narino”

Great hostel. Friendly hosts. We had a great time and learned a lot about the area, its culture and wildlife with Neider, the hotel guide. Nice view from the terrace.

The hammocks are the best. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They make vegetarian breakfast if you request it. During mango harvest there are always mangoes to eat

Staff were really friendly and took us on tours into the jungle and down the river to see some wildlife and indigenous communities. The hostel itself is a great place to relax and switch off. The top terrace has a great view over the river, and we even saw monkeys running along the wire just in front of the terrace!

“Amazing place in Amazonias”
09 Nov 2024
Everything was great. Staff was super friendly, rooms were simple but clean, there are plenty of common spaces to chill out, location was perfect. Of course, you have to understand that this place is in the middle of Amazonias. This means that you can meet all kinds of bugs, reptiles or even monkeys in the trees but that’s what makes your stay here unique.

“Comfortable. Tranquil.”

Beautiful property. The beds are very comfortable. The location is great. Most importantly the family that run it are amazing. I would highly recommend. Neider the owners son, is an amazing tour guide and I would really recommend booking an excursion with him.

Breakfast was absolutely excellent. The owner was absolutely lovely and very friendly. They also recommended Alex the guide who took me out to lake Tarapoto, the sloth island, an excellent night walk and to a local village all for an excellent price. Even with him only speaking Spanish and my grasp of the language being very little, we still had excellent conversation and he was great company. Would highly recommend this Refugio Maiku Puerto Nariño as a place from which to launch your Amazon adventures.

“Perfect as a base to explore the Amazonian forest around, lovely staff, can help organise activities”

Very nice lodge in Puerto Narino, we were staying in a double room with, comfortable bed, there are two very efficient fans and a mosquito net around the bed (we were there during a dry season so not many mosquitoes). Breakfast, simple but nice, served at a little terrace, and a small kitchen is also available. There is a nice balcony with a view to the river to chill. The staff can help you organise activities in the Amazon with their guide Alex, who took us to a nice trip to a village across the river in Peru, to see the sloths and visit a community. They have a wide range of activities, recommend informing yourself a few days before and making a plan, but you can also find something on the spot. Be advised that there are domestic animals in the gardens around so you will likely wake up early with the sound of roosters - but that is part of the experience!

“Lovely staff”

The staff here are really kind and helpful. They booked our boat tickets for us, did a clothes wash and put us in touch with a wonderful guide Alex who we'd highly recommend. The balcony has a beautiful view and there are nice communal spaces to hang out. Beds were comfortable and clean and the dorm room had lockers. The included breakfast was nice- eggs, bread, fruit & plantain.
