Our previous visit was too short and we promised ourselves to come back again. Our stay this time was just as wonderful. Somkhanda is such a beautiful and unique game reserve and compared to many other lodges and private game reserves it is still good value. If you don't expect unnecessary luxury (our opinion) then you will love it here. We highly recommend taking the game drive whether you have a 4x4 or not as our guide Riaan is so knowledgeable and you will get to see a lot more of this gem of a game reserve. The staff are also so friendly and helpful and if you are not self catering there is a little restaurant offering a limited but tasty selection of dishes. We hope to be back again.

KARLA..Nokhutula..Riaan Taljaard is regtig die beste!! This place is a GEM! What a WONDERFUL experience. The food was SO delicious. Best service. Lovely lodge. Lovely pools. Clean. Friendly hosts.

Somkhanda is a fantastic gem off the beaten track. We were so impressed with the lodge and its facilities, and the rooms are really gorgeous. It holds the appeal of a private game reserve because it feels untouched. There are 2 pools, which are great in the Zululand heat! The reserve is packed with wildlife, and we had a lekker sunset game drive with Rian, spotting a few incredible creatures. We’ll definitely be back for a longer stay.
