Bed and Breakfast Aquamarea

Let me start by saying that we love Italy and have had successful holidays in 10s of different locations there over the last 10 years. We booked Aquamarea for our honeymoon. Paying €536 a night (almost €3000 for 5 nights) is more than we usually spend but it was the occasion for it. The stay did not get off to a great start with chaotic instructions for arrival via text and voice messages and after we eventually did arrive, we had to sit in the public bar with our luggage until the barman was ready to show us our room. The room was located through the managers office, squeezing past the computer and next to the kitchen. Kitchen had a constant stream of staff every evening which didn’t feel private or quiet. The view itself is stunning from the small balcony, just like the photos. The rooms less so. Our room smelt and had paint flaking from the wall, plus the bathroom was older with tin foil used to keep the shower head on. While I appreciate the charm of an old building, we had an expectation of something more luxurious due to the website and the price. Some of the advertised services were also not available e.g. we were curtly told that of course the washing service was not possible in the summer. It’s hard to reconcile all the good reviews with our experience. All we can think of is that our expectations were too high and/or the place has been let go or the prices recently raised. If the price had been half, it would have been a fair 2-3 star stay. The most disappointing thing was that we let the hotel know about our sadness and they said they understood and would reimburse us 1 night to put towards another honeymoon. For 3 months they said that they would do this but never did perhaps stringing us along until the review window closed.

Couldn't really ask for more perfect accommodation. The view, the service, the location... amazing We stayed at the accommodation for two nights and it was amazing. Everything is nearby, the host is really great and helpful with everything, definitely ask for local restaurant recommendations as the ones she gave were absolutely amazing. We arrived on my partners birthday and they provided us with complimentary Prosecco which was very nice gesture as I did not even mention it was her birthday. The breakfast was freshly made and talk about a breakfast with a view...

The location was amazing, the room was so beautiful and the view spectacular. Christiana was an exceptional host & such a beautiful person , she went above and beyond and made our experience so special.

I really liked the owner of the property. The lady Christiana was very kind, very professional and she accommodated us in many ways. It was my birthday and she gifted me with a bottle on their roof top bar, which, btw has an excellent view. They provided me with parking facility which was super useful. BF was amazing. Location and the view from the room was *****.

Top position! We had one of the best views of the main beach and cliff top divers from our room which opened onto the breakfast terrace.. It is walking distance to everything.

Since booking the accomodation we had both text and phone follow up to check on our arrival along with directions for parking and transport provided to the actual hotel. Chirstina was by far exceptional in both her customer service along with ensuring we had everything we needed for our stay. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of visting the area and looking for a 5 star experience.

Aquamarea was in the perfect location with spectacular views and fantastic staff. Especially Christiana, who went out of her way to help us and cater to our every need. She was an amazing host and made us feel at home right away. She made our stay in Polignano a Mare even more special.
