The fine print
To get to the property, if coming from the North (e.g. Zagreb), exit the highway in Karlovac, then continue in the direction of Slunj and Grabovac for 2 km. Before the bridge on the River Korana, turn right onto road 42 in the direction of Plaški and continue for 4 km. At the junction in the Poljanak village take the road to Plitvica village. Then follow the Villa Sumrak signposts.If coming from the South (e.g. Zadar or Split through Korenica), go through the main entrance of the Plitvice Lakes National Park and continue for 6 km. Turn left 500 metres after passing the blue bridge over Korana River and go uphill to road 42 in the direction of Plaški. Continue for 4 km and turn to the Plitvica village at the junction at Poljanak village. Then follow the Villa Sumrak signposts.If coming from the West (e.g. Rijeka or Istria), take the highway to Zagreb until you reach Bosiljevo, then turn to the direction of Split. Exit at Ogulin and take the direction to Plaški. Continue for 4 km and turn to the Plitvica village at the junction at Poljanak village. Then follow the Villa Sumrak signposts.Please inform in advance of your expected arrival time. This was a great place to stay. It’s on the opposite side of the Lakes to the main entrances, and as you drive down an ever increasingly long winding narrow road, you’d be forgiven for wondering where on earth you were. The answer is a highly convenient spot, 5 mins from what is essentially a private entrance, just 5 mins walk from the ferry stop. The lodge itself is very comfortable and spacious. Our suite consisted of a sun drenched bedroom, living room and seperate kitchen. It was a family run business, and all our hosts were very friendly and helpful. Dinners were extra, but the food was excellent, and we were extremely happy to eat there both nights. Meals were tasty, filling and complemented by locally grown wines that Marco was happy to recommend. The surrounding countryside is idyllic and of course, the lakes are amazing.

We booked a studio and a small apartment. Both were spacious and comfortable. Conveniently located close to "Entrance 3" of the park. The hosts were very friendly and helpful.

Best host ever! Met us on arrival and helped plan our hiking trips to the national park. Meals purchased from the restaurant were excellent, including the local family wine. The decor is eclectic but comfortable. A very memorable stay. And the price was reasonable.

The apartment had everything we needed and was so confortable. The location is amazing and we were able to visit the national park without moving our car. The host was nice and provided us with several recommendations about the lakes. We fall in love with their friendly cat.

Villa Sumrak is a lovely family run B&B, very well located for a 1 night visit to Plitvica lakes close to entrance 3. We are so glad we stayed a night in Plitvica and went in the afternoon around 3:30, most of the crowds were leaving. We followed the route suggested by our host and by the time we got to the lake boardwalks there were very few people. It took us around 3-3.5 hrs to walk leisurely around the lower lakes, the boat trip across the big lake and the panoramic bus as we missed the last boat back. The lakes are beautiful and really unique, so highly recommend staying a night and visiting Plitvica with lesser people. Villa Sumrak was a great stay option, secluded, lovely and helpful hosts, very clean, good dinner & breakfast, great wine suggestions (best Croatian wine in our trip) and overall very happy with our stay and recommend them highly.

Extremely friendly staff, very welcoming. Location is great as well as you can use a side entrance to the park without needing to go for entry 1 or 2.
