Rene and his wife have created a very special place. A meeting place for fellow travellers in a stunning location. Rene is an amazing, generous host. A genuine people-person full of interesting and entertaining stories and useful information about Vietnam, but at the same time very interested in others. Helping yourself to beers from the fridge and writing them down in the "honesty book" further creates an atmosphere of feeling at home. Undoubtedly our most memorable place to stay on this six week trip to Vietnam. Leaning against the side of the pool gazing out over the paddy fields was an unforgettable experience. We rented a scooter for the day to visit the mind-blowing Paradise Cave at a very reasonable price and didn't even have to fill up with petrol on return. Good breakfast with limitless coffee. Finally a personal story: we had brought our own bicycle combination locks to Vietnam as we knew cycling would feature prominently on our six week trip. We left one of the locks attached to one of the bicycles when we left for our next destination in Dong Hoi. I messaged Rene to let him know the combination just so the lock could be removed from the bicycle and used by others. Much to our surprise the lock arrived a few hours later to our hotel room in Dong Hoi, which was completely unexpected but very appreciated. Thanks Rene!

The breakfast pancakes were a hit with our kids as was the pool! The staff were super friendly and caring. The surrounding scenery was gorgeous.

Very relaxing atmosphere in the middle of rice fields , helpful and friendly staff. We really enjoyed staying here and extended our stay. Of course the national park is also amazing . Don’t skip this place in your Vietnam trip

Everything. Nothing to complain about at this stay. Location, the owners and staff, even the pets. We loved this place. Best we have stayed at in Vietnam so far. Food is very,very good.

- very friendly staff, they helped us a lot with planning our trip - you can rent a motorbike or bicycle there - the food was very good (breakfast and dinner) - the location in the middle of the ricefield is amazing - very nice and clean pool - beautiful chill out area around the pool Rene was probably one of the best hosts we have ever had. We are already looking forward to the next time we are there.

Authentic Vietnam Quite simply, I experienced something special here… There are many amazing sights to see in Vietnam, and there are many people here to see them. As we tourists swarm from place to place, we just might miss the extra special things Vietnam has to offer today. Here, I found something we are all searching for. In the fields and villages that surround Greenfield, there is a pace of life and harmony that, if you let it, will give you something very rare in today’s world… In addition, your host, maître d', and bartender, Rene, is something special too. A Belgian gentleman who has lived in Vietnam for over 30 years, he speaks English, French, Vietnamese, Dutch—the list goes on and on. This means we all get a chance to hear his unique blend of wisdom. He will guide you, if you wish, to find the best places near and far, whilst regaling you with stories of his experiences. To give you a flavour , he worked on the movie *The Quiet American*, supplying extras and meeting Michael Caine! If you prefer, he simply melts into the background. Like all great hosts, he creates an environment of bonhomie. Whilst I was there, this certainly helped all of us guests to get to know one another for the brief time we met as our journeys crossed. If you allow it, this place will give you something very special as well. If you are fortunate in life, you find authentic people and places… In Greenfield, I think I found both.

Wonderful views and pool. Super friendly owners. Used grab to get there from the bus only about 80k. So worth getting out of the main town. Can hire a scooter from the stay for 100k for a day to do a loop and see the caves. They can do laundry for 150k each, which seems quite expensive. Amazing dinner, with a good portion, but not necessarily having a choice and was 150/175k which seems quite expensive in comparison to the surrounding area. Overall, I would definitely come back and recommend, but it would be nice to have prices given to us/written somewhere before having things.

Greenfield is idyllic, set a short distance away from the sleepy village of Phong Nha in the rice fields. We came to Phong Nha to disconnect and explore the incredible scenery and we were not disappointed, this is definitely a place to switch off. Greenfield itself is an oasis, the pool has the rice fields as its backdrop. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you require, the breakfast was fresh and filling and dinner was different every night, freshly cooked and with produce from their own garden. However, what really makes this place are the owners, Rene and his wife. They made us feel so welcome, are fabulously knowledgable in respect of the local area and Vietnam more widely, and Rene is your very own Google translate, he speaks a number of languages so everyone feels included, he is also fair game for a little banter 😊 can’t recommend this place enough.

We loved staying here! It is in such a peaceful location surrounded by fields. Our hosts were generous with their time and were always happy to help. The bed was comfy and the room was clean. We loved the pool and the gardens in the property. They have good, free bikes to borrow so you can explore the local area easily. Would recommend!
