I used my time at Nanten for a two days digital detox. I spent my time there meditating, reading and going on walks through the village, their rice fields and forest. It was such a peaceful experience. The food they provide and even serve in your room was fantastic. The staff is available and friendly all the time. I also really liked their Onsen and living room, which was perfect to chill and read in the evening.

A really great place to stay, the food and the place was amazing. One night was too short. We should have stayed another day and walking or hiking in the surroundings.

Ryokan is located directly outside Amami station which is slightly under an hour from Osaka, making it easy to get to. Staff provided warm and excellent service, helping my boyfriend and I carry our luggages up to our rooms on the 2nd floor. 11-course dinner was very good, and well-paced. View from the onsen which looked out to the fall foliage surrounding the ryokan was beautiful, as was the view of the gardens from the common dining hall. There are also bikes available for rental at the entrance of the ryokan, which we would have tried if we had more time to explore the town. Overall a very welcome respite and change in pace for our trip from the liveliness of Osaka.

We had a wonderful welcome from all the staff which helped us relax a lot after traveling in the rain all day. The room and food were amazing! We loved the view from our room and also the view in the onsen. I'd love to stay here again!

What a beautiful location and easy to reach with the train from Osaka. The staff were so amazing and welcoming and everything was perfect. Room was big and comfortable. The onsen was not private (which was a little uncomfortable for me at first) but it actually went really well and was very enjoyable. They really catered to the fact that I am vegetarian with the dinner and breakfast. Would love to go back and experience the gardens and surrounding areas more.

Amazing view, amazing service, and the private onsen was comfortable, if a little hot. We had the moon course kaiseki, and the food was delicious.

Whole experience of staying at the luxurious suite with private onsen was amazing. It really felt like we had our own garden and river which was running nearby. That created a nice sense of calm opposing the big city noise that we were used to. We had the wagyu dinner course and it was delicious. They brought so much food, that two of us couldn't eat it all. Breakfast was also hearty.
