It is a beautiful hotel in a stunning remote and quite mountain location. The room was spacious, with double bed, sofa, shower room and separate WC, double wardrobe and a balcony overlooking the mountains. The staff were super friendly. To get the best experience it helps to be able to speak German as English was limited. There is a smallish dining room (five tables) inside and lovely terrace for eating outside (loads of tables) with fantastic views. The menu is typical of southern Bavaria with limited options for those who don't eat meat. A fair choice of beers, wines and soft drinks. A separate breakfast room with a buffet including a range of fruit, fruit juices, teas, coffee, milk (and non-dairy milk), cereals, yoghurts, cooked meat, cheese and breads, and eggs cooked to order - a typical Bavarian breakfast. There's a small lake/large pond to swim in set in a small meadow a short (2 minute) stroll from the front door, with some sun loungers and plenty of space to relax on the grass and enjoy the awesome setting. A short walk away is an even more stunning mountain lake (the Bichlersee) in which you can also swim. A couple of good length (8km-ish) walks start on the door step. Plenty of parking. It is located at the end of the 3.5 mile road from Oberaudorf, so no through traffic. We had a car. If you don't it maybe possible to get a taxi from Oberaudorf? Alternatively it's a 4 mile uphill hike from the train station at Oberaudorf.
