The price/performance ratio is great; Nuwara Eilya is not the cheapest place in Sri Lanka, so taking that into account, Maha Royal Hotel was a good deal for me. The location is fine: the hotel is at the far end of Gregory Lake and it’s almost 4 kilometers away from the main bus station, but you can get marvellous views (either from your own room or at least from the breakfast place) and of course the lake is near. My double room with balcony was spacious, the bed comfy. The bathroom was pretty standard, and I had no problems getting hot water. The breakfast (toast with omlette, butter and jam) was simple, but it did its job.

Lovely comfortable, cosy and spacious room with a great view, very nice to come back to on the cold nights . Kind staff who accommodated our special requests.
