Whilst we only did an overnight stay, the property and facilities were AMAZING!! We were very sad that we had to check out the following morning, will definitely be back for another stay in the near future.

“A wonderful break from the rat-race in this charming Midlands cottage overlooking a dam”
15 Jul 2024
This was a charming, spacious, excellently appointed cottage with a view over the dam. Full of authentic wood furniture like a vintage writing desk and mirrored chests-of-drawers, the cottage has a warm, cosy feel while still feeling really luxe. The kitchen has gorgeous granite tops, a gas stove, and even a washing machine (with washing powder supplied in a cupboard) and tumble dryer. The lounge has comfy couches arranged around a fireplace where we built a fire that kept the house warm when the cold front hit the Midlands. It also has a large wooden dining table, nice for gathering around. There is good wifi, and the TV had Netflix so we could keep watching our shows (always nice!). The bedrooms had good beds and blankets, with electric blankets too, and great views out wooden cottage-pane windows set on two sides. In each en-suite bathroom, there is a shower, and the main bedroom also has a standalone enamel bath. The water in the cottage was piping hot, so hot showers for all four of us. The lounge opens up onto a private patio area which overlooks the trout dam. From here, we could watch the Nguni cattle herd wandering about, and also saw a secretary bird, and crowned cranes flying in to wade along the banks. The host, Ryan, is very friendly and helpful, always on site and easy to contact, and the staff who came to service the cottage were lovely too. What's also great about this property is that while it's quiet and secluded, it's also really close to the freeway. Just past Brahman Hills and Windmills, you can drive straight on to the all restaurants and shops in Notties, or you can hop on the freeway right there and head off to Howick or Curry's Post via freeway, which saves a lot of time. We love driving the back roads and meandering, but sometimes it's nice to just be able to take the quick route home. We loved it, and will be back again.
