Lovely atmosphere as soon as walked through the doors. Friendly reception staff. Used the spa and the pool and jacuzzi were lovely. As we stayed on a Sunday night the restaurant was not open but we had a tasty bar meal in the lounge. Overall an excellent and relaxing stay.

Beds and bedding were very comfortable, room to a pleasant temperature, shower very easy to use. Had eggs benedict for breakfast which was delicious, along with fruit, Danish pastries and fruit juice. Enjoyed a nightcap in the cosy bar.

Not my cup of tea. Too impersonal. Outwardly friendliness of staff seemed forced in comparison with the 3 star hotels i stayed in in Wimbledon, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Stroud. Seems very popular despite this. The lounge and bar areas were permanently (over)crowded. Main restaurant closed except Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Bar food (the alternative) not very good and - at least the night I wanted to eat there - too noisy: it seemed to be party night, with a choir of Father Christmas's singing to a packed house. I had to retreat to the quiet of my room. I didn't like the long dark badly lit hallways. Why do LED lights have to be switched on (too late) as you walk past? Bulb replacementments surely cost more than the amount of electricity saved. And, though I generally like hand soap in the bathroom, this doesn't apply to supposedly ecological oatmeal soap. In other respects, the bathroom was fine, with good lighting, good mirrors and, for oldies like me, a useful hand grip for climbing into and out of the bath/shower. I also liked the presence of a good steam iron and (albeit rickety) ironing board. Though can't speak for the English breakfast, the continental one was good, with a good choice of fruit and unusual yoghurts. I had to pay extra for my cappuccino though.

Lovely hotel and excellent location. Staff were outstanding and very pleasant. Would have loved to use spa facilities but run out of time. Room was very clean. Would highly recommend another stay in future.

I've stayed here several times whilst on business locally, and have always found the place clean and well run. The staff on the desk are always good value - particular mentions for Nicola and Josh who are super fun & friendly faces after what's often been a long drive

Plenty of options for breakfast, nice quality sausages, bacon was a bit salty and stuck together. Range of eggs were good, porridge was good. Room size is adequate, however, the TV should be attached to a wall instead of being on a small TV table in the corner which is lower than the bed and had to move the furniture around so could watch comfortably in bed. Nice toiletries- oat soap, flannels provided. Bed comfortable. Plenty of milk jiggers and tea/coffee. Decent size cups.
