Some good and some bad. The resort is made up of three hotels but only Al Husn truly five star Shangri-La standard. Al Jiddah and Al Wafa really need to be re branded as they are below expectations from a typical Shangrila experience. The good points of the stay are the picturesque location and the people who are extremely friendly. In particular the two chefs Karen and Desh were particularly accommodating to my dietary requirements. However, I have to state the competence levels of the servers, whilst very nice, was well below standard. Orders for breakfast and dinner were wrong to some lesser or greater extent at least 50% of the time. It was comical at first but then became tiresome. Having paid extra £70 per night to upgrade from a deluxe sea view room to a Panoramic sea view room I am not at all sure what I paid for as the room and balcony size was exactly the same as all others. The view from a small and limited balcony opening was nice but certainly not panoramic and I guess my expectation with such an upgrade price and description was that it would be a reasonable size balcony with loungers not a tiny balcony with just two chairs and a small table. We booked a 2 hour Spa experience with the manager Nick but on arrival at the Spa it had been changed to a 90 minute massage. All masseurs were booked up but after some checking they located mother masseur so our two hour session could go ahead. However the thirty minutes that we spent waiting in a very busy and crowded spa lobby for this to be arranged tainted the experience. To top it off we returned to our rooms that evening after the treatment to be disturbed for four hours by banging drums and music from a wedding taking place in front of our Panoramic room. If only I hadn’t upgraded?! Having asked Nick if we could book and pay the £130 fee for a late check out he mentioned that it might not be available as they were largely booked up.

Great views and perfect for people who would prefer less noise as this is an adults only property. Private beach was pristine and beautiful. Food was great and had good variety. Nick, Anne and all the other staff we met were so friendly and accommodating. It was a lovely place to stay and I wished to have stayed longer.

Everything was perfect, from the room to the restaurant and the staff. We were lucky the resort was not very crowded, it looked like it was all for us. We really enjoyed the beach and the spa, treatment are highly recommended.

Gorgeous resort, beautifully located. The rooms and the restaurants are tastefully furnished, the swimming pool is pristine and the beach immaculate. The staff is very forthcoming, professed helpful. Specially would like to mention Rodcleff from the reception and the therapist Edcel from the neighbouring spa. One of the best Thi massages my wife has experienced.

The location, the views, the amenities were amazing! There were so many perks offered to us as well such as complimentary high tea which was phenomenal, a one hour aperitif with unlimited cocktails. The highlight of the trip however is the exceptional staff as the service we received was amongst the best of any hotel I’ve ever been to.
