The place is beautiful, nestled into the green hills, peacefull and unique, one of the most amazing we’ve stayed at. The indoors is charmingly designed, the outdoors area magnificent and one can’t tire of the view over the valleys all the way to the sea. Breakfast was great, varied and plentyful. Margarita and James and their children are wonderful hosts who welcomed us most warmly and who make this place very special. Their care and inspiration transpires in everything and they helped us wherever we needed. There is a great restaurant a bit further down the hill and of course the magnificent Miradouro da Foia just a short hike up. Montalma is easy enough to reach by car (we had way more challanging routes at other places in Portugal) and the beautiful area around Monchique deserves a few days to discover. Montalma is a soulful place that gifted us with a wonderful time and experience. And:Try not to fall in love with Momo the dog, it‘s impossible. Thank you Maggie and family!

Maggie is a very lovely host. She wants their guests to feel home in her little paradise. Her house is in the middle of nowhere. This is a place where you can relax and recover from all the noise and stress in our daily lives. On the day we left, she even offered us to stay a little longer. That was very comfortable for us. Our room including the big bathroom and balcony was luxury. We enjoyed it very much.

The location was absolutely fabulous. Middle of nowhere embraced by nature. The rooms were excellent and the common areas as well. Plenty of space with mix of rustic with modern that just fits the environment. We loved the fact that there were no TVs and we could just breathe calmness and relaxation. On top of all that the host was an amazing person and the breakfast was a great moment every morning. Can't recommend it enough!!
