It is good if you know about this when it is av hotel based on thermals. We received the information just before checked in (and after leaving!): "We inform you that due to improvements to the Thermal Hotel in the Villa Termal resort of Caldas de Monchique, and because it is considered that the ideal conditions for the operation of the Spa will not be met, due to noise and various movements in the surroundings, we have been forced to temporarily close the thermal facilities for an indefinite period."

Lovely location. Great hotel complex. Food was good and service excellent. Value was outstanding because I suspect it was ‘out of season’ prices. Recommended definitely!

Our room was quite dated, the dinner restaurant was a bit like a school dinner hall and the evening meal was very poor. Set menu of 2 choices, and the steak was inedible.

breakfast was nice, view amazing. room was clean and semi modern, nice little balcony out to the front. staff was friendly. bed a bit hard, bath a little small but overall was lovely, like stepping back in time to 1930s, old glorious spas. the gardens and outdoor pools were amazing, timeless, classy, but it was winter so i did not swim. prices for thermal pool were good but after looking for it and 300 steps I gave up. But a lovely little get away in winter at affordable prices.

I love the location. The hotel seems to need beater management. When walking around the premises we noticed a lot of stuff lying around, walls need new paint and all over the place needs to be renovated soon. Besides that our stay was very beautiful. The employees were nice and helpful, the location is amazing and the room was big and comfortable. Also I was very happy with the breakfast.
