Ryokan Overview

Located in the World Heritage Miyajima Island, Iwaso features Japanese-style accommodations with beautiful surrounding views. Guests can relax in the indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths and request for massages. A free shuttle is available from Miyajima Ferry Terminal, which is also a 5-minute walk away.
The air-conditioned rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. Rooms in the Annex include a private bathroom with a bath and toilet, while rooms in the historical Main Building and Cottage Annex have shared bathrooms and toilets.
Guests can purchase local gifts at the souvenir shop and enjoy singing at the karaoke room. Photocopying and luggage storage services are available at the 24-hour front desk. A computer with internet is provided in the lobby for an extra charge.
A traditional multi-course dinner featuring seafood and local ingredients and a Japanese breakfast are served at the restaurant.
Iwaso Inn is a 5-minute walk from Itsukushima Shrine and Momijidani Park. Miyajima Aquarium is a 10-minute walk away.

Everyone in the staff were super helpful and responsive. Offered all king of sightseeing suggestions without having to ask.

Such an amazing location! So beautiful. It really felt like we got an authentic traditional Japanese experience. The staff were also really friendly and the breakfast was 10/10

The location, gardens, onsens both inside and outside. A true authentic experience that we’d recommend full heartedly to anyone. The shuttle from and to the ferry was also greatly appreciated.

Selected Iwaso for an authentic Japanese ryokan experience, and our expectations were exceeded. Our room was large, decorated in a traditional style, with a terrace with a view of the forest and brook. Everything was perfectly clean. Upon check-in, we have been provided with yukata which was very comfortable to wear. Both dinner and breakfast were of a traditional Japanese style and were absolutely delicious (before our arrival, Iwaso reached out to us with a query as to our dietary requirements and vegetarian options). We slept on futons on the tatami-matted floor which was very comfortable. Onsen was delightful, especially the outside one when one can look at the forest and listen to the nearby brook and crickets. Staff was very friendly, helpful and responsive. Iwaso is located conveniently for exploring Miyajima, a couple of minutes of walk from the ferry. Iwaso also operates a shuttle to the ferry which you are offered to use before checkin or upon checkout.

Beautiful traditional property. Very calm and tranquil atmosphere. Amazing food - many new ingredients and dishes to try. The onsen was a wonderful experience. Convenient location for exploring Myajima.

The service was excellent and I made a mistake with my booking, my son’s age was incorrect and they were very accommodating providing a bed at short notice and rice and miso for dinner. The food is fancy for most regular Australians but delicious. The onSEN was fabulous. Loved our stay and thought it was worth every cent!

The place is absolutely stunning! Immersed in nature, surroundings are beautiful and so quiet. I took a hot bath at night in the outside onsen while it was raining in the forest, such a great experience. It is absolutely worth having dinner and breakfast too, prepare your western taste buds to unusual (but great) flavours, especially in the morning! :D Other pros: it is super close to itsukushima shrine, like a 3 mins walk. We got to see the shrine at night after dinner, it was so peaceful. Staff is extremely kind and nice. The room is big, clean and just beautiful. The futon is comfortable. They will also pick you up at the ferry station and take you back there.
