Lovely onsen in a beautifully kept property. Rooms are great and food was exceptionally amazing. They prepared amazing vegetarian choices for me even my non-vegetarian partner wanted to steal my share! Lovely staff to look after you. Can’t ask for more!

Getting to the hotel was relatively quick, easy, and convenient from Tokyo. Arriving at Jomokogen, the shuttle bus took us directly to the hotel and was easy to find. The hotel was picturesque and beautiful, looking even more magical than in the pictures. The staff was very nice, helpful, and spoke adequate English. They made us feel welcomed and at home throughout our 2 night stay. The outdoor onsen was magical, and the surrounding nature enhanced the experience. Our dining experience was wonderful and filled us up throughout the day. The food was traditional, well made, and delicious. We very much enjoyed our stay over the Christmas holiday and can not wait to return. Highly recommend it.

Despite the warning you can find online, this place is easy to get to from Tokyo - one hour by Shinkansen + a 45-minute courtesy bus (which you can request from the hotel). The outdoor baths are beautiful as well as the garden and the river abound them. The staff is friendly, many speak good English.

Everything was perfect. Staff were helpful and informative. Only 2 1/2 hours drive from Tokyo and had everything we needed. The food and surroundings were exceptional Thank you

Very warm and helpful staff Excellent room for Wedding Anniversary (#323!) - great view of river and outdoor baths, snow on rocks and pathways, river sounds thru night Meals and transfers included in price - excellent value for special occasion.

I wanted to experience an outdoor hot baths and this was perfect. The accommodation was traditional and the evening meal was an amazing way of experiencing food I would not normally try.

Amazing open air onsen! We had a spacious room with a river view, very comfortable, good heater. Breakfast and dinner were delicious, traditional with a lot of local dishes, everything you’d expect from ryokan. Tattoo friendly, English speaking staff. Our stay was really good.
