Hotel Overview

Set within its own picturesque grounds, this award-winning former coaching inn, dating back in parts to 1430, provides traditional accommodation and a luxurious spa in the historic Sussex market town of Midhurst.
The Spread Eagle Hotel still retains many of its original features, including sloping floors, inglenook fireplaces and oak beams. The award-winning restaurant also features a beautiful stained glass window.
In contrast to the historic aspects of the hotel, the Spread Eagle offers a modern spa, complete with an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room and gym. Alternatively you can indulge with a personalised beauty treatment.

Located in the oldest part of the hotel and incorporating many of the historic features of the original property, these luxurious rooms include four-poster bed, TV, tea/coffee making facilities and en suite bathroom.

Double room with king-size bed, feature fireplace, separate sitting room in which the sofa can be made up to sleep 2 young children or 1 adult. The bedroom dates back to c1430 and features a TV, tea/coffee making facilities and en suite bathroom.

Premier Double Room with Four Poster Bed - enter dates to see room photos

Light and airy large double room with four-poster bed. The room dates back to c1650 with feature oak panelling, a fireplace and an en suite bathroom with roll-top bath.

Feature Four Poster Room - enter dates to see room photos

Spacious room dating back to c1430, and named the Queen's Suite due to the visit of Elizabeth I in 1591. With a feature four-poster bed and a separate sitting room in which the sofa can be made up to sleep 2 young children or 1 extra adult.

The fine print
Dogs are welcome. Dogs are charged at GBP 25 per dog per night, a maximum of two dogs per room and we recommend booking a Midhurst Room or above to ensure you have sufficient space. A dog bed and food will be provided. Guide dogs are permitted at no extra charge.
Please note, children are permitted in the pool daily between 10:30-12:30 and 15:00-17:00.

Loved the pool and spa area (although the Swedish sauna wasn't working) but the pool, jacuzzi and steam room were lovely.

Beautiful old character inn in Midhurst. Excellent helpful staff in reception, bar and restaurant. Particularly enjoyed the fireplaces and comfy sofas in the lounge bar. Small comfortable room was perfect for me for a one night stay. Did not use the spa as I was busy exploring Midhurst. Enjoyed the food in the restaurant, but when I stay again next year will try and get them to set up a table for me in the lounge bar as it is so much cosier.
