The location is amazing and it feels so peaceful. The rooms are beautifully furnished with traditional furniture - my wife is sure there’s a small Rennie Mackintosh piece in the smaller dining area! We’re here in January but the grounds outside while lovely now must be spectacular come Spring/Summer.

We received such a warm welcome and felt totally comfortable during our stay. The food was exceptional, the room was very clean and modern, and we would have stayed longer if our travel plans allowed. Oliveira is a tranquil and beautiful village and, while it is little out of the way, it was well worth visiting. I would definitely recommend Casa d’Alem to family and friends.

Joana was an amazing hostess. The other ladies were fantastic too. We stayed for 2 nights but could have stayed for 2 weeks. Felt like visiting family. Charming old home, now accomodation. The pool the gardens, the house, the location with the church bells, vineyards and mountains was just amazing. We reloaded our batteries by relaxing completely. We had dinner here on the second night, which we highly recommend. Hospitality second to none. Good breakfast and comfy bed, good shower and stunning views. The rooms are large and equipped with all you could need. Joana was accommodating, adaptable and it felt like family seeing us off after only 2 nights. Would recommended 100 times over.

we are happy to stay in casa d'alem during our roundtrip visiting north portugal. douro valley is a very beautiful place on earth and to book this play for a stay was a good choice. it is a historical place , very detailed and original with a great swimmingpool and great views over the valley and wineyards. everything is perfect organized and it is the truth the portuguese people are one of a kindness allover the world. our advice take your time out of rush visit this place and enjoy your visit there. thanxx again monika and eberhard

Amazing place, historical with fabulous views over the Douro valley. Johanna the manageress spoke perfect English and was sooo very lovely and kind. The meals and breakfast were fabulous. We were touring on our motorbikes and felt that the parking was very safe.

The place is amazing. Located on a hill the view ober the Douro valley is amazing. There is a free private parking on the property. The hostess was very nice and helpful. She greeted us and showed to our room and other facilities. The room was very spacious and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable. The views from both the room and adjecent bathroom was amazing. The later was clean and had everything we required. The breakfast was delicious. We were offered a bread basket, a variety of jams, fruit and coffee. We also got freshly squeezed orange juice! Overall, it was an amazing overnight stay, we are sorry we couldn’t stay longer.

All the staff has been very welcoming, a special mention to Clotilde that made feel us at home. The swimming pool is wonderful and the view is wordless. If you go to Douro, they definitely deserve a visit!

Simply the best! Already stayed second time and will be returning every year if possible. Advice for everybody - going there for one night only is good but you will regret you have not stayed longer :) If going for longer, take books with you as your first two-days plan will be changed and you want to relax only.

very nice location in the hills, beautiful old house and former stables, great swimming pool with plenty of sunbeds and drinks. We had a wonderful dinner with wines and port. Wifi in the house was very good.
