Matsumoto is quite a small town (at least the touristy parts) and this hotel is located a short walk from the train station and most places you are likely to visit. There are a bunch of restaurants around, but many of them seem to require reservations (ar just don't want English speaking tourists, considering that a few who turned me down were near empty). The area is dead quiet at night. The check in was a breeze thanks to Izumi and Saki who were both very helpful and spoke impeccable English. Even staff who didn't speak English (or were simply reluctant to do so) really went above and beyond to help. After having stayed in more modern looking hotels in Japan, the room interiors at Matsumoto were almost quaint which was nice for a change. It's also the only hotel I can think of which had an English manual for the remote controls for the TV and AC with buttons in Japanese, which is some lovely attention to detail. The bed was comfortable and the room of course impeccably clean. If I ever come back to Matsumoto there is no doubt that I'll stay here again. The quality in relation to the cost is amazing.

The location,next to the castle and the view of the mountain range from our double windows on the 8 th floor. The breakfast was a very good assessment of Japanese and western foods laid out as a buffet in a really grand ballroom! It's 2 mn walk from the most amazing castle in Japan: do go at night and in the sunshine,a gem!

The room was very spacious. I felt like I stayed in a suite rather than a standard room. The bed was also super comfortable. I had the best sleep here. Also, I've never appreciated room lighting until I stayed here. I could customize it for every mood with the lamps and headboard lights.

They were so kind. I booked the wrong day - somehow I booked the day before we actually arrived. But they very kindly let me stay for the night I needed and gave us an upgrade to a bigger room at no extra cost.

the hotel is situated close to everything you need in Matsumoto. The room was big and comfortable, the shower had really good water pressure and in general we enjoyed our stay!
